The Black Lives Matter Youth Coalition was established in 2016 at South Bronx Community Charter High School in partnership with Black Lives Matter of Greater New York. It is a student led imitative geared toward student developing confidence in their roles and responsibilities as future leaders.

The Youth Coalition is facilitated by culturally responsive adult partners who guided students to finding their inner and outer voices. Steeped in restorative justice practices, social emotional learning and positive youth development principles, students engage in rigorous discussion, reserach and critical thought to finding creative solutions to eradicate injustices within Black and Brown communities. Students work strategically to prepare community organizing and social action initiates in their community.
